Mumbai: The Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals have reinforced their squad at the T20 Mumbai auction, adding 10 new players as they gear up to defend their title in the upcoming season.

The defending champions made their biggest investment by signing Chinmay Sutar for ₹9.5 lakh, aiming to strengthen their batting lineup. The team has retained key performers including Siddhesh Lad, Tushar Deshpande and Rohan Raje, who played a crucial role in last season’s title-winning campaign.

Lad will continue as captain, bringing stability to the middle order, while Deshpande, retained as the Icon Player, will lead the bowling attack. The squad also sees the addition of players like Ayaz Khan and Irfan Umair, adding depth to both batting and bowling departments.

Mentor Abhishek Nayar will continue to guide the team, alongside head coach Amit Dani, as the franchise focuses on maintaining a balance between experienced players and emerging talent.

Speaking about the strategy, the team management highlighted their focus on building depth and flexibility, while franchise owners emphasized consistency and support for young cricketers.

With a strong core and fresh reinforcements, the Maratha Royals are set to mount a serious challenge for back-to-back titles in the T20 Mumbai League.
